Identify potential topics; develop consensus on content focus, skills, and topics (scope and sequence); decide upon unit format; organize project by dividing writing/development responsibilities. Three MG Team site visits/working meetings.

Grade-level groups develop draft activities. |
Phase Two.1: Fall 1999 |
Present draft activities to whole group; continue data collection/skills refinement. Complete preliminary draft by 1 January 2000. Two MG Team site visits/working meetings.

Phase Two.2: Spring 2000 |
Circulate preliminary draft to Advisory Board, NASA collaborators, Editor etc. Revise based on comments/suggestions. One MG Team working meeting.

Phase Two.3: Summer 2000 |
Review by Workshop, Texas A&M. Fifteen master teachers classroom test materials in controlled environment. Materials distributed for review to other interested teachers and subject matter groups identified by Advisory Board, NASA, and so on. Website readied for public with materials needed for unit implementation. Classroom trials and pilot testing with interested teachers and development of state curriculum correlations. Materials revisions completed by July 31.

2000-2001 Phase Three |

Phase Three.1 Fall 2000 |
Revised draft materials poured into format reviewed at Workshop and redistributed to the Workshop group for further comment and review by September 15. Materials in this format distributed for review to other interested teachers and subject matter groups identified by Advisory Board, NASA, and so on. Team Leaders take suggested changes from fall review period and incorporate into units. Final editing and production.

Phase Three.2 Spring 2001 |
Materials go to print; dissemination plans for pre- and inservice staff development finalized. Summer workshops organized. Web site dissemination materials completed and placed on-line.
